Jalashay Resort

Project overview

Jalashay Resort sits on a promontory reaching into the Panshet backwaters, about an hour south-west of Pune in the Mulshi–Panshet weekend belt. PBJ Infra built it end to end — site and retaining works, the main hall and event lawn, a three-storey guest block, a cluster of villa cottages, and an infinity-edge pool with a stepped sun deck — then landscaped the whole site. The name jalashay is Marathi for “reservoir,” and every part of the plan is oriented to the water.

It is the built reference behind PBJ’s resort construction service, and draws on the same swimming pool construction and pool filtration discipline as PBJ’s standalone pools.

The challenge

A resort on a reservoir promontory is a site-engineering project before it is a building project. The land falls away to the water on more than one side, so the buildable area had to be cut and held with retaining walls and graded terraces before any structure could go up. Services — water, drainage and power — had to be run across a sloping, partly rocky site, and the pool had to be founded and waterproofed close to the shoreline without any risk of the reservoir and the pool water mixing.

The buildings themselves span three types on one site — a large-span event hall, a multi-storey guest block and detached cottages — each with its own foundation and structural approach, all to be finished to a single standard and handed over together.

PBJ’s approach

PBJ worked the site in the order the terrain demanded. Retaining structures, terraces and the internal road came first, turning the promontory into a set of usable levels. The main hall, the guest block and the cottages were then built in parallel by the in-house team, so structure, finishing, the pool and the landscaping could overlap rather than run end to end.

The infinity pool was treated as a full engineered pool, not a view feature: a structural shell, waterproofing and a balancing tank and overflow channel sized so the edge runs continuously, with the plant to the same standard as any PBJ pool. The timber-look deck and the planting were detailed last, once the wet trades were clear.

Construction / execution

The work followed PBJ’s four-stage sequence — site, structure, systems, signature:

• Site — clearing, cut-and-fill, retaining walls, graded terraces, the internal road and the shoreline edge.
• Structure — foundations and frames for the main hall, the three-storey guest block and the villa cottages; the pool shell and balancing tank.
• Systems — water supply and storage, drainage, power, and the pool’s filtration, circulation and overflow plant.
• Signature — roofing and external finishes, the timber-look pool deck and sun deck, the event lawn, and the terraced landscaping that ties the buildings to the water.

The full scope was delivered over roughly a year.

Final result

A completed lakeside resort at Panshet — a main hall and lawn for events, a guest block and cottages for stays, and an infinity-edge pool that reads level with the reservoir — built and landscaped as a single contract by one team.
