AK Gemak Resort

Project overview

At AK Gemak Resort in Kolhapur, PBJ Infra’s brief was to lift the resort’s leisure offer: a new swimming pool, recreational activities and landscape improvement across selected areas of the property. The work was completed in about six months and finished in 2023.

The centrepiece is a mosaic-tiled pool built around a raised garden island, reached by white bridge walkways on either side, with a poolside lounge deck for guests. It draws on the same pool tiling and finishing and pool filtration discipline PBJ applies across its aquatic work.

Client requirement

The resort wanted more than a place to swim: a pool that also works as an activity space for guests, and grounds that feel more welcoming around it — within a defined six-month timeline.

PBJ’s approach

The pool, the raised island at its centre and the bridge walkways were designed as one structure rather than an island retrofitted into a pool, so the waterline, the island’s edge and the bridge supports all sit on the same engineering. An in-pool basketball facility was built into the swimming area, turning part of the pool into an interactive play zone without taking over the lanes. Landscaping was then used to improve the spaces around the pool and across selected areas of the resort.

Construction / execution

Structural shell and waterproofing came first, then filtration and circulation, then the blue mosaic tile finish across the pool and island edges. The raised island, bridge walkways and in-pool basketball installation followed, with landscaping, improvement works and poolside seating completed alongside — the full scope in about six months.

Final result

A completed swimming pool with an in-pool basketball facility, a garden island and lounge deck, recreation areas and refreshed landscaping at AK Gemak Resort, Kolhapur, in guest use since 2023.
