Brahma Valley

Project overview

Brahma Valley is a large integrated resort and hospitality destination on about 32 acres at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. It combines accommodation, hospitality, events, recreation and landscaped gardens in one planned resort — PBJ Infra’s largest published hospitality project.

The project has been under development for about one year of a planned four-year programme, and is being built in phases.

What’s being built

• Accommodation: 25 villas and 55 cottages, planned into the landscape to balance privacy and comfort
• Hospitality & events: a large restaurant, a one-acre banquet hall for weddings and large gatherings, and two community centres
• Swimming pool: approximately 7 lakh litres
• Water features: waterfalls and other water elements woven into the landscape
• Landscape: a Malaysian-themed landscape garden with Malaysian tiles and landscape features, and gazebos for outdoor relaxation
• Access: a helipad, planned as part of the resort’s premium infrastructure
• Outdoor recreation: activity areas across the site

PBJ’s scope

PBJ Infra’s work covers the accommodation facilities, hospitality infrastructure, recreational amenities, the swimming pool and water features, landscaping, outdoor structures and the associated site development — developed systematically, phase by phase, across the 32-acre site. It brings together the disciplines of PBJ’s resort construction, swimming pool construction and land development work on a single project.

Construction so far

The photographs on this page follow the resort’s main swimming pool — the free-form, roughly 7-lakh-litre pool — through its early structural stages:

1. Base slab — the pool outline marked in brick and the base slab cast across the free-form footprint.
2. Starter bars — reinforcement starters set radially around the curved edge, ready to tie into the walls.
3. Wall reinforcement — the curved walls tied out in steel mesh, held off the formwork by concrete spacer blocks.

A free-form pool of this size has no straight runs to set out from: every curve of the wall has to be set out on site and reinforced to follow it, which is why the reinforcement is fanned and bent to the shape rather than laid in a simple grid.
